Helen Manthey

It is with saddened hearts that the family of Lena (Helen) Manthey age 94 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away on August 22, 2024 at the Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The graveside service was held on August 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosenhof Sommerfeld Cemetery with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The pallbearers were Darryl Polsfut, Paul Blanke, Garry Dick and Jason Blanke. 

Lena was born on a farm near Rosenhof, Saskatchewan on October 9, 1929 to Wilhelm and Katherina Braun. Lena went to 5th grade in McMahon, Saskatchewan. Lena worked as a waitress, dishwasher and housekeeper in Swift Current until her and her husband (Herman) moved to an acreage at Rosenhof. 
Lena loved cleaning and going for coffee with the ladies. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidering, reading and going for walks. 
Lena is survived by sister Susan Dyck, brothers – in – law; Dave Peters and Ralph (Faye) Wilson, sisters – in – law; Bess McIsaac, Betty Wilson, Ruth (Garry) Dick, Ruby (Paul) Blanke, Susan Braun, Mary Braun and numerous nieces and nephews. Lena is predeceased by her husband Herman Manthey, her parents Wilhelm and Katherina Braun, 6 sisters and 3 brothers. 

The family is thankful for the outstanding care provided by the staff of the Meadows over the past 2 years.
