Helen Thelma Haroldson, 102 years old, was born Oct 30, 1918 and passed away on Nov 22, 2020 at The Meadows with 2 of her sons by her side and the other holding her dear in his thoughts. Helen worked hard all her life beginning with her mom passing away when she was only 10 years old. Her family lived on a farm north of Antelope, it was tough growing up in the 30's: no money, no car. Instead it was horseback, bicycle or on foot. Helen and her brothers milked cows and shipped cream to help buy clothes for the family. Later she worked on a farm South of Swift Current for $5/mo. and met her future husband. Helen married her husband of 59 years, Ken Haroldson in 1939. They spent their first winter with her family, where she cooked and cleaned for her dad, brothers and husband. In spring they fixed up an old house near the Hunters and lived there for 3 years. When Ken and Helen bought land they lived in a small house that was already there, eventually moving in a 2 bedroom house (which is still in use today). Helen was a born homemaker, every meal tasted great, including the many served in the field at seeding and harvest. Her lefse was especially enjoyed by all the grandchildren! Helen always grew a garden and looked after the yard (wearing out 2 weed whips in one summer at age 92) However, after she broke a hip and moved to town, her life slowed down and she could only dream of all the baking and work she had done. The telephone was her lifeline to family and friends. We looked forward to her nightly calls, wanting to know what was happening on the farm, saying "What's new - nothing new here." Survived by sons, Murray (Connie), Vernon (Lucille) and Monte (Rhonda); Grandchildren, Shannon, Sheldon (Teresa), Shiloh (Jennifer) and Shawn (LeAnn); Shane (Erin), Tim (Stephanie) and Angela (Jason) Price; Melissa (Jeff) Spencer, Travis and Jenna (Logan Notenbomer); Great grandchildren, Chad, Kayla (Cody) Knockaert, Seth (Kristen) Shaya and Sara, Sydney and Daymon, Reagan Dylan and Ryder; Carter and Kale, Iden and Ashlin, Jocelynn and Helena; Ainsley and Owen, Gage and Ryder, Eden Linden and Zayde; Great great grandchildren, Ava and Kinnley. Predeceased by Ken in 1998, her parents Thory and Hilda Tessem, siblings Marj, Gordon (Kay) and Norm (Dorothy), grandson Lonny, and grandson in law Kerry. Of all the Barsness, Rosen, Tessem and Haroldson families she was the last of that generation. Always a Mother, Always a Friend. Those we love don't go away, In our memory they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, But always near, still loved, still missed, Always dear.
