Grace Darling

Darling: Grace Sarah Darling (Nee: Rush) of Swift Current, Sk and formerly of Consul, Sk, passed away November 6, 2018 at the Meadows in Swift Current. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Dr. David Manley officiating. The Interment Service took place at the Consul Community Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Wednesday November 14, 2018 beside her husband Lloyd. Grace was born on May 12, 1925 at Shaunavon, Sk. She was the first child to Grace and John Rush of Claydon, Sk. Following her formal education Grace attended Normal School where she received her teaching degree in 1943. Grace married Lloyd Darling on October 14, 1946, after teaching at the country school for two years. They spent 58 years in Consul, Sk., where Lloyd had a gravel business and Grace taught school for many years. Lloyd passed in 2004 and Grace moved to a condo in Swift Current shortly after. Although they never had children of their own, Grace and Lloyd loved every kid they ever met and there were many second and third generation relatives, school bus kids, that Lloyd drove for years, neighbor kids and the nearly 500 children Grace taught over 25 years. Grace listed her hobbies as rock hunting, gardening, reading, collecting bells, stamps, coins spoons and she would paint anything that needed it Grace is survived by her brothers; David (Edna) Rush of Medicine Hat, Ab. And Jim (Shirley) Rush of Kelowna, B.C. and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd; her parents; sisters Virginia and Joan; brothers Dennis, Jerry and Stan. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, Sk S4P 2R3 or Children's Wish Foundation, Saskatchewan Chapter, Box 309, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 3L3.
