Grace Carleton Obituary

Carleton, Grace Jean, age 80, of Neville, passed away June 12, 2024, at the Cypress Regional Hospital.  The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., June 18, 2024, from the Neville Community Center, with Linda Stumpf officiating.  The organist was Joan Williamson.  The eulogists were her grandchildren: Ryker Wall, Tyler Wall, Jessica Gorrill, Tia Gorrill and Mikaila Desautels.  Ushers were Alex Williamson and Trent Weber.  Honorary pallbearers were Colleen Gillespie, June Kelly, Henriette Fowke, Delores Daniels and Loretta Toupin.  Grace is survived by her husband of 57 years, Keith; daughters: Trisha Carleton, Jessica Gorrill (Jordan Perrault) and Tia Gorrill; Serena Desautels, Mikaila Desautels; son in law Owen Wall, Ryker Wall (Kelsey Romanchych) and Tyler Wall.  She is also survived by her siblings Veron (Ralph) Weber, Jo (Jim) Appleyard and Don Campbell.  Her in-laws Joan Williamson, Lois (Carl) Hickey, Gail Carleton, Maureen Michaud, Sheila Padley, Gregor Carleton, Darla (Ron) Wilhelm, Michael Carleton, and Candi Carleton (Simon Godreau), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Grace was predeceased by her parents Vernon and Mary Campbell; her parents-in-law, Ben and Edna Carleton; her daughter Lisa Wall; sisters and brothers in law: Denise Campbell, Bob Williamson, Ed Wilkins, Barry Padley; niece Leah Wilhelm, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.  Grace was born November 6, 1943, in Swift Current.  She was raised on the farm at Duncairn, where her parents owned the store and post office.  She went to school at Silver Craig and later SCCI in Swift Current.  She met Keith when he was working for the neighbours and they were married April 13, 1968.  Grace spent her married life in Neville, working at the Pioneer Coop and driving the school bus.  She was a leader in Explorers when the girls were younger.  She was actively involved in the Neville community, whether it was helping at the sports day, skating rink, curling rink, fowl suppers, etc.  She was to receive her 50-year Legion membership pin at a BBQ on June 22, 2024.  She was the secretary of the Neville Branch for several years, as well as the Treasure for the Ladies Auxilliary.  They have travelled to many Legion conferences throughout Canada.  Grace spent many Tuesday nights crafting while Keith played bridge.  She loved to crochet; every grandchild, great niece or nephew has a blanket made with love.  In later years, she spent hours painting ceramics.  After retirement, she and Keith catered many meals for different events; no group was too big or too small.  They also enjoyed travelling.  Their trips included Hawaii, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Branson, and The Host Fest.  We take comfort knowing you are with Lisa, watching over us.  Donations can be made to the Neville Rec Board, PO Box 70, Neville, SK, S0N 1T0.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren’s Funeral Home.  For further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit the website www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall.
