The family of Gordon Unger are saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Gordon was born May 13, 1932 in Vanguard, SK to Emilie (Bender) and Peter Unger. He attended Ettrick Bank School. He married Margaret (Steinhauer) on November 16, 1956 in Swift Current. Together they raised 4 children. Gordon worked road construction, forestry, town maintenance, and 32 years as a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool agent. Gordon had many interests including fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, wood working, playing cards, and golfing. Gordon's favorite thing to do was to visit with friends and family and take his grandchildren fishing. Gordon is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Margaret; children Wendy (Rod) Garland, Cheryl Merkel, Stan (Shelley) Unger, and Corinne (Gord) Van Kannel; brother Arthur Unger; brother-in-law Bob Anderson, sisters-in-law: Hilda (Dick) Rousay, Doreen Steinhauer and Alice Steinhauer; grandchildren Jamie (Christy) Garland, Chris (Stephanie) Garland, Jenn (Tim) Berg, Wade (Joaleen) Unger, Dustin (Kelsey) Unger, Chelsey (Jack) Stuart, Anthony (Vanessa) Merkel, Alyshia Van Kannel and Bret Van Kannel; great grandchildren: Ashley, Devyn, Hunter, Peyton, Ella, Paisley, Easton, Lena, Julia, and Aubrey; as well as numerous special nieces and nephews. Gordon is predeceased by his parents Emilie and Peter Unger; his sisters Lorraine, Irene, Dorothy and Margorie; and brothers Bob, Allan, and Glen. A private family service for Gordon Unger was be held on October 24, 2020 from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home in Swift Current. Gordon's family would like to thank the staff at the Meadow's for excellent and compassionate care. We are so grateful for the love you showed Gordon.
