Steinley, Glen: It is with great sadness that we share this obituary of Glen Steinley. He passed away September 18, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital due complications caused by multiple myeloma. He was born on April 22, 1945 and grew up on the family farm in the Prairie View District. He received his education at Swan Lake and Waldeck schools. Shortly after completing high school he worked as a rod man surveying for Stock Keith and a cementer for Dowel Canada. After moving to Rush Lake he started working for the Rush Lake Waterusers Assoc. as a ditch rider, a position he held for over 30 years. He married Frances McCann and together they raised 2 sons and 1 daughter. They purchased a small farm near Rush Lake and had a few cattle, pigs, etc. He worked alongside his dad, farming and later his 2 sons. in 1996 they moved to the family farm at Prairie View and have resided there ever since. He was a practical joker all his life so his wife, children, sister and father-in-law bore the brunt of his many antics. He is survived by his wife, Frances; sons, Craig and Blake (Leeann); daughter, Lana (Todd); two grandsons, Kyle (Kaylie) and Rylan; two granddaughters, Brittany and Mali; 2 great-grandsons, Cole and Case; and also 2 step-grandsons, Chad and Wade (Cassidy). He is also survived by brother-in-law, Norm Gordon; sister-in-law, Marj Allen; brother-in-law, Alvin Peters; sister-in-law, Inez Peters; brother-in-law, Bert McCann; and sister-in-law, Myrna McCann. He was predeceased by his father, William; mother, Annie; sister, Shirley Gordon; and nephew, Rodney Steinley; parents-in-law, Albert and Bessie McCann; brother-in-law, Alvin McCann; sister-in-law, Yvonne McCann; brother-in-law, Bert Allen; and most recently, his daughter-in-law, Cindy Steinley in January of 2020. At his request, there will be no funeral. His ashes will be buried in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery on the family farm. Donations may be made in Glen's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
