Gerald "Jerry" LeFaive Obituary

Gerald Louis “Jerry” LeFaive

December 27, 1941 - March 09, 2026

Gerald Louis “Jerry” LeFaive, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 09, 2026, in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, with family at his bedside while the music of his favourite musician, Johnny Cash, played softly.  Jerry was known for his kindness, patience, and a wicked sense of humour that brought smiles to those around him.

Jerry was born December 27, 1941, in Ingersoll, Ontario, to Gerald LeFaive Sr. and Doris LeFaive (Foote).  He grew up in Ingersoll and attended Princess Elizabeth Public School, Victory Memorial School, and later Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute.

On May 19, 1972, Jerry married the love of his life Lianne Marie Christianson at a courthouse in London, Ontario, where they eloped.  Together they shared nearly 54 wonderful years of marriage, and built a life centered on family.

Jerry worked for Roanark Construction and was a long-time member of the Labourers’ International Union of North America in London, Ontario, working as a carpenter.  Known for his strong work ethic and practical skills, Jerry was always ready to lend a hand.  Whether building decks, fences, or outdoor furniture, he was happy to help family and friends-often accepting nothing more than a cold beer on a warm summer day as payment.

Jerry had a passion for travel and adventure.  He especially loved warm, tropical destinations and spent nearly 20 years enjoying winters at his second home in Costa Rica.  An enthusiastic driver, Jerry enjoyed the open road and often embarked on long road trips, including several journeys from Ontario all the way to Mexico and Costa Rica.

Sports were another great love in Jerry’s life.  He was a dedicated fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees.  After moving to Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, in his later years, he enjoyed attending hockey games as a season ticket holder supporting the Swift Current Broncos.

Jerry was a devoted grandfather who happily took on the role of the family “Uber driver,” transporting his grandchildren to countless school events and sporting activities and cheering them on from the sidelines.  He was also well known as the family baker, often greeting the grandchildren after school with homemade chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, and other treats.

Jerry also enjoyed shopping trips, frequently heading to Swift Current or Medicine Hat after carefully reviewing the weekly flyers for the best deals.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lianne LeFaive; his children, Michelle Kirk (Dennis), and Ryan LeFaive; and his cherished grandchildren: Annika, Christian, and Spencer Kirk, and Juliana, Jonathon, and Lilyana LeFaive, all of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.  To his family, he was more than Dad and Grandpa-he was affectionately known as “Doo-Doo,” and “Pop-Pops,” names that reflected the special bond he shared with his children and grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jack Christianson (Sheila) of London, Ontario; sister-in-law Karen Prest of Exeter, Ontario; nieces and nephews: Rob Christianson (Rose) of London, Ontario, Ron Christianson (Peter) of Sydney, Australia, Laurie Christianson (Paul) of Ottawa, Ontario, Kim Francis (Dave) of London, Ontario, Tracy Gizdic (Nik) of London, Ontario; along with many great-nieces and nephews.  Jerry is also survived by his cousin LaVonne Hamilton of Long Beach, California.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents: Gerald LeFaive Sr. and Doris LeFaive of Ingersoll, Ontario; his brother Robert LeFaive (RCAF); and his brother-in-law Beverly Prest of Exeter, Ontario.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Warren’s Funeral Home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. A private family service will be held in Ontario at a later date.

In memory of Jerry, donations may be made to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre.

Jerry leaves behind a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  His family and friends will forever be grateful for the time, laughter, and memories they shared with him, and feel truly blessed to have had him in their lives.
