George Anderson

George Oscar Anderson, age 73, of Waldeck SK, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at Cypress Regional Hospital. There will be a celebration of George's life held later in the summer. George is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson; children, Anne and Reid; sisters, Laura Balas (Ken Pigott), Ellen Shapley, Pat (Wilfred) Burns and Joan (Kermit) Sharpe; father-in-law, Bill McKenzie; sister-in-law, Margaret (David Farran) McKenzie; and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. George was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Florence Anderson; brothers-in-law, Don Balas and Don Shapley; mother-in-law, Shirley McKenzie; and niece, Donwyn Sayers. George was born in Kincaid SK, on January 3, 1948, and attended school at Hazenmore and Aneroid SK. George married Mary McKenzie on October 9, 1982 at Aneroid SK. George worked for the PFRA water projects at both Val Marie and Rush Lake in the 1970s. After he was married, he worked with his father-in-law on the farm at Ponteix until moving to Waldeck in 1997 where George had a small cattle operation and did custom haying for several years. George loved to hunt and fish in his youth, and was actively involved with the Wildlife Federation. He also raised purebred polled Hereford cattle until moving to Waldeck, when he changed to a commercial black Angus operation. George enjoyed his coffee and a good visit with friends and family.
