Gary Whalen

Gary Paul Whalen, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023, with his wife Melissa by his side. He was 67 years old.

Gary was born in Havre, Montana on September 3, 1956, the third child of Lawrence and Margaret (Andersen) Whalen. He attended St Jude and Havre High School. Gary enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged.

Early on in Gary’s life he had two wonderful children Jennifer and Christopher. In 1999 Gary met Melissa, Alexis and Rachelle in Canada. Gary thrived with this chapter of his life. Taking on the best part of raising two wonderful daughters and granddaughter Berlynn.

Gary enjoyed fishing, working, and spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate about organ donation and encouraged others to become donors.

On January 30, 2015, a total stranger gave Gary the gift of a donated heart and a new life.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Lawrence and son Christopher. Gary is survived by his wife Melissa and daughters Alexis (Scott) sienna and Soren.h Rachelle (Chad), Berlynn, and soon to be grandson Keith Gary; Jennifer and grandson Castor; grandson Brennan by his late son Christopher; mother Margaret J Gill, siblings Marjorie, Kathleen, Michael, Wilma, Eileen, Patrick and Ruth. Numerous nieces and nephews.

We are grateful for the gift of Gary’s life and the memories we shared with him.
