Frieda Jacobs Obituary

Elfrieda (Freda) Emilie Jacobs, age 97, of Gravelbourg, and formerly of Hodgeville, SK, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at The Foyer d'Youville. The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday October 5, 2019 from the chapel of Warren's Funeral Home in Swift Current SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The organist was Sherry Silzer and the eulogists were Jessica Jacobs-Mino and Michael Jacobs. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current SK. The pallbearers were sons: Bill Jacobs, Grant Jacobs, Robert Jacobs, Warren Jacobs, Dwight Jacobs and Bradley Douglas Jacobs. The honorary pallbearers were daughters: Karen Pinsonneault, Elaine Jacobs-Nichols, Brenda Jacobs, June Jacobs, and Gail Jacobs. Freda is survived by Karen Pinsonneault: Troy (Crystal): Matt, Kate; Jacqueline (Ray): Raina; Elaine Jacobs-Nichols (Bill): Owen : Sasha, Robyn, Thea; Nathan (Palesa): Dineo, Talis; Alexandria (Noah): Leif, Ezra; Brenda Jacobs: Jessica, James; June Jacobs: Francisco, Jordi; Bill Jacobs (Mona): Chelsea; Grant Jacobs (Anne): Michael, Olivia, Daniel; Robert Jacobs (Bernadine): Kelvin (Darlene): Heaven, Christian; Rebecca (Shaun): Brooklyn, Mia, Brie; Warren Jacobs; Gail Jacobs; Dwight Jacobs; Bradley Douglas Jacobs (Stephanie): Kieran, Emilie. Freda was predeceased by her parents, Peter Brandt III and Anna Maria Brandt; spouse, William Jacobs Sr.; brothers, Harold Brandt (Lou), Eric Brandt (Irene), Frederick Brandt (Leota), and Peter Brandt IV; sisters, Anna Maria Brandt, Lydia (Lee) Straub (George), and Henriette Hyndman (Les);  grandchild, Aaron Miller; nephew, Peter Brandt; and also her grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Freda was born February 24, 1922 at her parents' home, located at Section SE, 13, Township 14, Range 8, West of the 3rd Meridian. She attended Vickers School SE 22, 14, 8 W3. Freda married William Frederick Jacobs on October 14, 1944 in Moose Jaw SK. She worked at Bill and Freda's farm south of Hodgeville as a farm wife, mother, grand and great grandmother until 1982 when they retired to Moose Jaw SK. Freda did everything from hauling grain bales, feeding cattle, hogs, poultry, milking cows, gardening, cooking, baking, cleaning and laundry. Freda attended Trinity Lutheran Church with her children and played the organ for service. Freda enjoyed and played softball where she was the catcher with no glove. She loved to sing and played piano and organ by ear. She loved horses and all animals. She loved the outdoors and gardening. Reading and listening to music were favourite pastimes, especially in her mid to later years. She also loved to crochet. Freda always wanted to stay informed on whatever was going on in the country and world affairs. Freda's life was full, providing for her eleven children and sharing in the life of her 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
