Fern Kruse Obituary

KRUSE, Mrs. Fern Mary Ann, (nee: HUDSON), aged 79, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, with both her daughter Jennifer and her niece Kelli, by her side. There will be no memorial service at this time, but a celebration of Fern's life will be scheduled at a future date when the family can travel, and social gatherings are not restricted. Fern is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Kruse, and her grand-daughter, Journey, both of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; her son Chuck Kruse, his wife Marilyn, and daughter Angela of Henderson, Nevada; and her son, Trevor Kruse and his partner, Tim Worgan of Toronto, Ontario. She leaves her sister, Kay Froese and her husband, John Froese of Swift Current, Saskatchewan; her niece, Kelli Sather; and her nephews John Froese (Barb) and Kevin Froese (Deanna), and their families. She will be missed by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alice and Jack Huber of Regina, Saskatchewan; and their family, Nancy (Ray) Jacoby of Regina, Saskatchewan, and their family. Fern was born August 8, 1940 and raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Adopted daughter of Mr. William Geoffrey Hudson, and Mrs. Katie Hudson (nee: Lee). Loving wife of Charles William (Bill) Kruse, Jr., who she married on August 19, 1961. Fern supported Bill in the family-owned business, Kruse Glass & Aluminum, from 1960 until Bill's retirement in 1990. He predeceased her 16 years ago on June 10, 2004. Fern and her husband Bill were avid bridge players, and both became Life Masters of the American Contract Bridge League in 2000. They attended many bridge tournaments in Canada and the United States, and spent many winters together playing bridge with their good friends in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Fern will be greatly missed by her bridge family in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and her lifelong friends in Regina and Saskatoon. We are, as she was, very grateful for the loving care she received at the hospital and would like to acknowledge the dedication and attention she received from the staff in the dialysis unit over the past year, as well as the kindness and empathy shown by the doctors, nurses and social workers during her recent palliative care. The family wishes that memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, 2051 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current, SK, S9H 0X6, or through the website here: https://drirwinfoundation.com/grateful-patient/.
