It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Tom Luchenski of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Tom passed away peacefully at The Meadows Residence on March 26, 2026, at 96 years of age. Tom was born on January 20, 1930, in Creelman, Saskatchewan and spent the first forty years of his life growing up on the farm, working on the farm and raising his children on the farm.
Tom moved the family to Fillmore in 1963 but continued to farm while taking on other ventures including a full-service gas station and an ambulance business. He was a proud member of the Fillmore Lions Club and a strong advocate of community support. He was always involved in local politics, fundraising, rink construction, caretaking, snow removal, and sports coaching.
Tom was a small child when he fell in love with airplanes and finally took to the air in his forties. After moving to Stettler Alberta, Tom was able to partner up on ownership of an airplane and never looked back. Any excuse to get in the air was good enough for him. Tom moved to Lucky Lake in 1984 when he purchased the local insurance business and spent the rest of his working career and most of his retirement there. Tom flew his airplane into his eighties, loving every minute of it.
He eventually moved to Moose Jaw to be closer to health care and finally to Swift Current to be closer to family for his final years. Tom was a proud man, and if you met him, you probably remember him. Full of jokes and one liners, he demanded attention and usually got it.
Tom is survived by his children: Charlotte, Rick, Brian, Guy, Sonny, Janice, and Mark, their Spouses, his Grand Children, Great Grand Children, Nieces and Nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Eileen, his sister Bernice, his brother Ed, his partners Mary Anne and Marlene and his son Kurt.
The family would like to thank the Meadows for the wonderful care they provided him during his last days of life.
Interment to take place at a later date in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
