Evelyne Schwartz Obituary

The family of Evelyne Ruth Schwartz sadly announce her passing on June 2, 2019, at the Meadows in Swift Current. Evelyne was born September 15, 1936, in Swift Current. She was the eldest child of three to Risdon and Ruth Parsons. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Schwartz, her parents, her brother Reg Parsons, numerous brothers in law and sisters in law, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Evelyne is survived by her three sons, Les (Debbie) of Stettler, AB; Allan (Lanette) of Swift Current; Ryan (Margaret) of Swift Current; grandchildren Dustin (Leah) and family of Edmonton; Marc (Kristi) and family of Swift Current; Shawn (Teressa) and family of Stettler; Darrin (Jamie) and family of Calgary; Heather (Michael) and family of Aidrie; and Curtis (Ashley) and family of Swift Current. Bill and Evelyne have 13 great grandchildren. Evelyne is also survived by one brother, Jim (Barb) Parsons of Swift Current and two sisters in law, Beth Parsons of Waldeck and Iris Schwartz of Moose Jaw, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Evelyne grew up on the family farm near Waldeck. She attended school in Swift Current. Evelyne had many jobs throughout her life. They included being a cake decorator at Henry's Bakery, a dispatcher with Star Cabs, owning an upholstery shop with her brother Jim and also working with her son, Allan at Country Club Confectionary. Evelyne married the love of her life, Bill Schwartz on October 19, 1954, and raised their three sons in Swift Current. They were married for almost 61 years. Evelyne's fondest memories always included her family; whether it was the numerous family reunions, hosting family gatherings, camping trips to Cypress, fishing with family or watching sports with her children and grandchildren. Once her grandchildren were grown, she made room in her heart for her 13 great-grandchildren, whether they were near or far. Evelyne loved to use her hands and always produced beautiful pieces. She was an avid upholster, ceramic maker, and she loved to knit, crochet and quilt. Evelyne also loved to cook and bake. Evelyne was most famous for her cabbage rolls, cinnamon twists, cottage cheese pies, lemon poppy seed cake and whoopie pies. She loved making homemade soups and stews and shared with everyone around. Evelyne's love of music was always apparent. She played the organ and the piano, while Bill played multiple other instruments. They loved their time together playing music at different family members' homes and churches. Evelyne was a collector...whether it be spoons, poems, songs or jewellery. She always took great pride in her appearance. She loved wearing nice clothes, fancy shiny jewelry and having her hair and nails done to the nines! Evelyne spent her retirement years with Bill until his passing in 2015. She then moved to the Bentley for ashort period of time and later to the Meadows, where she enjoyed her time listening to the live music, playing cards with her friend Carole, tinkering with her sewing machine, visiting with the other residents and workers at the Meadows, as well as her visits from all of her family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society in Evelyne's name. The funeral service was held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Allan officiating. The pianist was Sharon Penny.  The pallbearers were Evelyne's 6 grandchildren, Dustin Schwartz, Marc Schwartz, Shawn Schwartz, Darrin Schwartz, Heather Kolbeck and Curtis Schwartz; and great-grandson, Payten Schwartz.
