Evelyn Erickson Obituary

Evelyn Pearl Erickson (nee Harrison) was born on November 3, 1923 to Lloyd and Pearl Harrison of Abbey, Saskatchewan. Being the eldest of 7 children she was a hard worker and great help to her Mother and Father. She married Andrew (Andy) Erickson on April 8, 1944 and farmed near Abbey. When Andy's father retired, Evelyn and Andy moved to the Erickson farm north of Lancer and enjoyed farm life until they retired to Swift Current in 1982. They had five children, Carrol Ann (b. July 10, 1945 - d. Nov. 3, 1956), Brenda Joyce, Pearl Evelyn, Gary Andrew and Trevor Grant. She has 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and another on the way. Evelyn was an artist! She enjoyed trying her hand at everything and was every accomplished. She made and decorated wedding/anniversary cakes; sewed most of the kids clothes growing up and all of her own; she quilted; knitted; crocheted; an expert welder or fine detail; a barber/hair dresser in the neighbourhood; an avid photographer; care of animals (big heart to save everything); drove all farm equipment; top notch chef; self-taught on violin, piano, guitar, harmonica, in fact, any instrument she had the opportunity to try she could play. She was left handed! After retirement she got to do a little travelling to enjoy other parts of the world; Sweden in 1984 with Andy; Hawaii; Mexico and her dream came true when she visited Plum City, Wisconsin and saw where her parents immigrated from; she met several distant cousins whom she had never known, visited her Aunt Mabel's (her father's eldest sister) graveside and collected much Harrison family history. Evelyn loved the Lord her entire life and was a devout Christian. She read the Bible daily and prayed for all to know the Lord. He was her strength throughout life and especially in her final years. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Andy in September 1988, by her Mother in 1982, by her Father in 1991, by her brother Garth in 1998, by her sister Betty in 2016, by her sister Edna in 2016, and by her sister Margaret in 2020.
