Long time Swift Current resident Erwin Jaeger died on May 28th, 2022 at The Meadows. Erwin was born in 1916 in Ichenheim Baden, Germany to Hermann and Sophie Jaeger. He arrived in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan to join his father in 1934. In 1937, Erwin married Margaret McLeod who gave birth to two children, Erwin junior who passed at 4 month in 1938 and Gordon born in 1947, before her own death in 1971. Erwin worked with International Harvester Company (IHC) for many years, through Hill Equipment and Farmer's Equipment as parts manager. In 1966 Erwin and four others bought Southwest Equipment in Swift Current from Bill Smith, which later became Southwest Pro Ag in 1976. Erwin continued to work as parts manager until he retired in 1985. In 1953 Erwin joined his beloved Lions Club becoming a 'Life Member' and later join the Masons in 1975 and the Eastern Star in 1976. Erwin married Tillie (Matilda) in 1974. They shared may wonderful years together with family and friends until she passed in 2013. Erwin was also predeceased by two brothers Ernest and Willie who remained in Germany with their mother when Erwin came to Canada. His son Gordon in 1992 and grandson Chris Jaeger in 2021. He is survived by his grandchildren Scott, Tyler, Alex and Richard as well as members of Tillie's family including Brent and Dianne Smith and their family. He will be greatly missed.
