Eric Stiff Obituary

Eric Armand Stiff, July 29, 1978 - December 6, 2020,

This is not goodbye
This is until we meet again
Until then...
Keep on trucking!

Eric was born July 29, 1978 in Calgary, Alberta. From an early age, Eric was a wanderer, liked adventures and was intrigued by how things work.

He enjoyed playing ball, running in track & field, exploring, camping, fishing, hunting gophers, working at the farm with grandpa, taking apart and fixing vehicles, building and programming computers. He looked forward to and talked a lot about his summers spent with his cousin Remi and being around to grow up with "his girls," saying the memories will last forever.

Eric graduated from Ponteix High School and following family tradition began his wander and adventures. He went to Lloydminster and studied computer programming. He then began his wide range in the job market from farming, brine shrimp trapping, private deliveries to areas where no one wanted to enter, to driving delivery truck on longer hauls. Being on the road, he came to realize this was the feeling of freedom he searched for.

Eric settled in a small town outside of Saskatoon having the best of both worlds! Got to work in Saskatoon driving for Haus Courier Services, but at the end of the day, return to his quiet small town. It was in "his" small town that he would chill with Nick Chabot "brother from another mother," his loved feline sidekick Mosaic and plot his future; hopes of finding that special girl, tinkering on some project, working outside in the yard, catching up with his friends near and far.

Eric could be a private person but also very much enjoyed talking to people, whether it was a neighbor or someone he met from another country. He enjoyed debates of different topics, these could become quite serious, passionate and lengthy! Quite often these ended with a tilt of his head, twinkle in his eye, grin and him saying "you know I'm right." To our dismay because to his love of finding out and researching he would usually be right.

Eric passed away unexpectedly December 6, 2020 of an unknown hereditary massive heart attack at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon.

Eric is predeceased by his baby sister, Jennifer, Grandpa Armand Desautels and Baba Eilleen Desautels. He is survived by his mother, Linda Desautels-Stiff, Uncle Roger and Roberta Desautels, Remi Desautels, Rachelle Desautels, Charlene and Jeff Street (Samantha);  Roger and Aunty Karen Goffinet, Lorie Goffinet, Christy and Casey Jones (Carter, Cheyenne and Charlee), Josi Goffinet (Mia, Ivy and Ryder); Nick Chabot and all his friends made on his journeys.

Special thank you to the following for making an extremely hard situation, a little easier: my family, relatives, Nick Chabot, Aaron Haus, Nicole Rewerts, Margaret Biem, my friends and everyone that sent kind words, prayers, food, etc. Thank you also to Dr. Bouchard and staff at St. Paul's Hospital, emergency department in Saskatoon, and Warren's Funeral Home in Swift Current. Thank you!
