SUTHERLAND ELSIE It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Sutherland (nee McLeod) announces her sudden passing on June 4, 2020, peacefully in her home in Swift Current at the age of 94. A private family graveside service was held on June 8 at Memory Gardens, Swift Current. Elsie is survived by her children Linda (Guy) and their children Daryl (Kirsten), Neil, Brett (Jessie), Kristin (Kirstin), Corey (Michael); Norman (Rosemarie) and their children Christina (Larry) and David; Patsy (Mike) and their children Heather (Jesse) and Shauna (Jordan); Reggie and his daughter Fiona (John); Marla and her fur baby Sam. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Doris, Edith, and Laura, as well as her brother-in-law Bert and sister-in-law Velma. Elsie is predeceased by her loving husband Ken of 56 years, children Luanne and Carman, and great-grandson Ryker; son-in-law Vern; parents Allan and Jessie; siblings Annie, Margaret, Archie, Donald, Ben, and Neil; brothers-in-law Neil, Dellamier, Harald, Harold, Trevor, and Cliff; sisters-in-law Viva, Hazel, Audrey, and Betty. Mum had a special relationship with her sisters and her niece Ruth.  She always looked forward to their daily and weekly phone calls. Mum looked after her grand-dog Sam for the past 14 years and they developed a special bond. Her grandson Corey summed up best what she will be remembered for - love, kindness, giggles, baking, stories, strength, crafts, walks, humor, compassion, acceptance, encouragement, support, friendship, pride, and big smiles. A special thank you to granddaughters Shauna Bears and Christina Bourne for caring for Mum in the last weeks of her life. Your compassion and tenderness helped her walk the stairway to Heaven comfortable and peaceful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to S.P.C.A. Box 1163, Swift Current SK S9H 3X3.
