Betty's faith was paramount in her life which she showed in her incredibly generous spirit. She volunteered for 40 years at the MCC Thrift Store, Women in Mission, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir within the Zion Mennonite Church. She loved gardening and at times had three gardens so she could share the bounty with family, friends and neighbors. Betty preferred being outdoors, and tilling the earth on her Kubota tractor gave her such peace and joy. Her other love was her kitchen where many enjoyed her meals, baking and preserves. No one left Betty's home hungry, or without a loaf of brown bread, a jar of jam or a bag of cookies. She was most famous for her peach pie! Exercise was an important part of her life, one activity was she jogged five mile every day into her 70's and then in her 80's she had to walk instead. She was a life time member of TOPS. She was a determined woman who achieved whatever she set her mind to do. Betty lived her faith and was an inspiration and a pure example to all of those who knew her. Betty instilled in her family graciousness, love and humility. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
