Eldon Wilson of Swift Current, SK passed away on October 10, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Eldon was born on January, 22, 1936, in Lafleche, SK. He spent most of his life on the farm near Glenbain, SK, and retired to Swift Current with his wife, Alison, in 2004. Eldon was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Alison (nee Foster), in 2013. Eldon is survived by his daughter, Jan (Jason) Killen and his grandchildren, Sean, Sarah, and Marissa of Martensville SK; his son, Keith (Marlene) Wilson and his grandchildren, Bryn and Kieran of Calgary, AB; his sister, Daphne Minifie of Regina SK; his nieces and nephews, Rhonda, Pam, Sheldon, Audra, Steven, Nick, Lisa, Michael, and Rory.
Eldon attended the University of Saskatchewan in 1959 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering followed by a Diploma in Teaching. While farming in Glenbain during the spring and summers, Eldon worked as an instructor at the Fairview Agricultural College in Alberta. It was here that he met his future wife Alison who had recently arrived in Canada from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They were married in January, 1966, on a bitterly cold minus 40 degree winter day. Keith arrived in 1968 followed by Jan in 1971. During this time Eldon worked as an instructor at the Olds College in Alberta during the fall and winters. Over the years Eldon made a hobby of collecting and restoring antique Case tractors. When Eldon and Alison retired from farming, he brought the hobby to Swift Current, building a shop where he could continue his restoration activities. Eldon was a member of the Masons, the Kiwanas, and First United Church. Eldon and Alison were members of the Swift Current Square Dance Club and he continued to enjoy dancing after Alison's passing. Eldon will be deeply missed by his sister, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and friends.
Eldon will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current on October 21, 2021 at a private family service. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
