Douglas Francis Obituary

Francis, Douglas Gordon of Herbert, passed away July 25, 2025 at the age of 94 at the Herbert and District Integrated Health Facility. The Celebration of Life was held at 3:00, July 29th, 2025, at the Herbert Lions Hall with Dan Siebert officiating.
     The soloist was Dan Siebert accompanied by Carol Siebert. The eulogy was given by Michael Francis. The ushers were Kyron Lacelle and David Gin.
     Doug was survived by his wife Helen “Jeannine”, his four children Michael (Anne), Kilmeny (Mel Pederson), Rodney (Linda Kloschinsky), Shelley (Tim Gray). His grandchildren Aaron (Cory Harrower), Andrea (Kyron Lacelle). Brett Francis, Keifer Francis, Ryan Pederson, Allescia Cooper, Cassandra Gray and Lindsay Gray.
His great grandchildren Caiden, Alexis and Tiberius Francis, Annaleigh, Merrit, Quinton, and Gunner Lacelle, Kenna Francis and Emily Pederson.
 Nieces Marilyn Gusa, Joan (Graham Dupont), Debbie (Clint Busse), Dorothy Ball, Joyce Linton, and Janet Byklum.  Nephews Gordon Ball, and Dennis (Geri Ball) and Lorne McInnis.
     Doug was predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Joyce (Light). His sisters Ruby (Bob) Ball, Gladys (Dave) Ball, Lillian (Donald) Corothers and his brothers Clarence (Marion and Anne), Raymond (Edith) His nieces Donna McInnis, his nephews Billy Ball, Donny Corothers and Gary (Julie) Francis, Glen Linton and Butch Byklum, Roger Gusa.

    Doug was born June 4, 1931 and attended Coxley School and later Herbert School. He farmed raising grain and cattle until 1979 when he turned things over to son Michael and he began a second career selling advertising and souvenirs with his partner Frank Beutel and later, son Rodney. Doug was a member of the Free Masons until the chapter moved to Swift Current. He was a life member of the Herbert Lions Club serving as a District Governor and was instrumental in forming the Lions Sight and Service. Doug was a sports enthusiast, playing fastball, curling, golfing and hunting. He spent several years coaching the girls/ Ladies Nova Lilies aka Doug and The Slugs fastball team.
    The family would like to thank the staff of the Herbert and District Integrated Health Family for the great care.
