Dorothy Robertson Obituary

Robertson, Dorothy Helen, age 94, passed away peacefully with her two daughter-in-laws by her side on February 28, 2022.  Dorothy was born on July 30, 1927 in Swift Current in the little yellow house where Dory's House now sits.  She was the fourth child of Rudolph and Ellen Malchow of Cantuar.  She is survived by her son Randy (Joane)Robertson; daughter-in-law Nancy Robertson; grandchildren: Scott (Dawn) Robertson, Deanna (Darwin) Gooding, Kerry Robertson, Sean Robertson, Ian (Brittany) Robertson; great grandchildren: Ashton, Parker and Jamie Robertson; Reagan and Hannah Gooding; Kealee, Brayden, and Ben.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law Zan Robertson; sister-in-law Shirley Schimpf and Shirley's husband Ron; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Donald Robertson in 2008; son Ken Robertson in 2013; her parents, siblings, parents-in-law, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-laws.  Dorothy and Donald were both from the Cantuar area and started dating when she was finishing her grade 12; she went to high school in Success where she boarded while going to school.  They were married on June 25, 1952.  Dorothy's father died suddenly in a farm accident shortly after they were married so when her mom moved into Swift Current they moved into the house on the farm she had grown up in.  Dorothy spent most of her first 82 years living on the farm that her parents had started.  She spent time in Saskatoon before her marriage taking a dressmaking course.  Donald and Dorothy farmed with their sons with a mixed grain and cattle operation.  She loved gardening and excelled at a variety of crafts.  She was a long time member of the Cantuar Busy Bees as were a lot of her family members.  She was also member of T.O.P.S. where she formed many friendships.  She moved to Riverview Estates in 2009 where she lived until her death.  Donald liked to travel and they did a lot of trips with trailers and truck campers, even going as far as Mexico on one driving adventure.  Their trips have taken them from one coast to the other across Canada.  They were never gone for very long at a time but enjoyed seeing things.  In the mid 1970's they purchased a cabin in Cypress Hills and hosted many a family get together there.  The family all have fond memories of time spent in the cabin.  Dorothy was a loving wife and mother, a fantastic mother-in-law, wonderful grandma, great grandma, and aunt.  Donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Ave, Unit 26, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 1V9.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
