Doris Thoreson passed away peacefully at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre on Feb 10, 2020. Doris was born on May 25th, 1925, at Cabri, Sask. to Charlie and Annie Waite. She received her education at Panorama School, in the Roseray District, and later moved to Regina to attend Secretarial School. Returning home she married Rudolph Thoreson raising their only son Terry and farming in the Fosterton District until her husband's death in 1974. She then moved to Swift Current where she worked at the hospital for 16 1/2 years, greatly enjoying her work and many friends! Doris had many interests; participating in plays, cards, shuffleboard, bird watching and collecting spoons. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, rarely missing a game! She loved traveling, Hawaii being her favorite! Doris will be well remembered for her caring and thoughtfulness...and love of CHOCOLATE!!! A very special THANK YOU to Doug & Blanche Waite, for all they have done for Doris during her years at the nursing home. Our family is so thankful to all the staff at the Gull Lake Special Care Center for the excellent care & compassion she received while residing there! She leaves to mourn, her son Terry Thoreson (Bruna Scharf), brother Doug Waite (Blanche Waite), sister in law Sharon Waite, nephew Brian Waite, nephew Gary Waite (Kate Waite) niece Angela Waite, nephew Trevor Waite (Corie Day) granddaughter Clarissa Markling (Jeremy Markling), great grandson Jeff Markling. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph Thoreson, parents Charlie and Annie Waite two brothers, Robert Waite and Allan Waite. At Doris's request there will be a private family graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Feb 14, 2020.
