Deb Linklater

Deb Linklater, age 60, of Swift Current, passed away May 30, 2021 at Cypress Regional Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life for Deb at a later date.

Children: Caitlin Mann (Carter Wagner), Kirstie Mann (Corey Bowers)
Grandchildren: Reef and Vans
Sisters: Donna Waldner (Joe), Colleen McNamara (Kevin), Maureen Schlemko (Dave)
Nieces & Nephews: Alex, Jesse, Samantha, Spencer, Delaney & Joel
and numerous others.

Born in Swift Current in the Summer of 1960. Deb attended school in Swift Current, graduated from the Swift Current Comprehensive High School ('78). She curled competitively with the women's high school Curling team. She was a member of the Burnham 4H and the American Quarterhorse Association, winning multiple awards in Western and English classes.

She received her Bachelors of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. Her first teaching job was in Milden, SK. She then moved back to Swift Current and was employed with the Chinook School Division as a teacher and literacy coach until her retirement in 2019. She will be fondly remembered as an exceptional educator - touching the lives of many students, families, and colleagues over the years with her caring, patient, and strong nature.

She loved spending time outdoors walking, travelling, golfing, gardening, caring for her horses and watching the prairie sunsets.

She loved spending time with her grandkids, thoughtfully adding to their book collections, picking fresh carrots from the garden, embracing their silliness, and making endless pancakes.

École Centennial School will be setting up Linklater's Literacy Corner in her memory, a special place to read and a selection of Ms. Linklater's favourite books. 

To make a donation in memory of Deb Linklater and in lieu of flowers, her family is collecting contributions, which will go entirely towards the United Way's Literacy Programs in Swift Current, SK, such as the Summer Success Literacy Camps or future book vending machines in schools.
