It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we, the family of David Alexander Feil, announce his passing on Tuesday October 1, 2024.
Dave was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on February 25, 1951, to Jake and Esther Feil. Growing up Dave had a love for sports, playing football, basketball, and hockey. His greatest accomplishment was playing Fastball for various teams across Canada. He took pride in catching for a lot of great pitchers, but was an intimidating guy to play against. After graduating from high school, Dave worked at numerous jobs including McDonalds Consolidated, McGavins, and Wilton Motors and in later years as a courier.
Dave’s greatest passion was watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. He always had the coolers loaded and gas in the tank to travel any distance to watch. He spent countless hours coaching baseball and hockey, and in later years watching his grandkids baseball games from the outfield and heckling the umps on occasion! Dave and Yvonne billeted many players from the Bronco's, Legionnaires, and 57's baseball club from 1987-2012. Dave loved coming out for Sunday suppers to Shawn and Michelle's farm, bugging his grandkids and checking out the horses. His old grey Ford would also be seen cruising the back roads heading to Beaver Flats on a hot summer day.
Dave was predeceased by his loving partner of 53 years, Yvonne. Also his father Jake Feil, and his sister Barb Schafer.
Dave leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Michelle Osborne (Shawn) and their children; Cade, Jace, Rece, Kyle and Hailey. Son D.J. Feil (Kim), mother Esther Feil, his brother Jack Feil (Joanne) and sister Joanne Dickie. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
For all of you that knew Dave, he had countless stories about how proud he was of his kids and grandkids. Those that were closest to him comfort each other reminiscing the “good ol' days”.
A come and go celebration of life will take place on Sunday November 3rd, 2024 at the Swift Current Lions Hall (155 3rd Ave N.E.) from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
