Damone Caron Obituary

Caron: The family of Damone Paul Caron of Swift Current, Saskatchewan is sad to announce his sudden passing on May 20th, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Damone is survived by his wife, Sandra, son Harley (Megan Spence) Caron, daughters Tiffany (Brian) Bolingbroke and Marielle Caron, brother Laurier (Donna Driedger) Caron, sisters, Wantha (Tom Williams) Caron and Deirdre Caron, sisters-in-law, Bev Burgess and Wendy Darjes and brother-in-law, Richard Darjes, numerous nieces and nephews, many treasured friends and his four-legged puff buddy, Furgus. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Wilma Caron, parents-in-law, Robert and Anne Darjes, brother-in-law, Doug Darjes and sister-in-law, Eileen Darjes. Damone was born on December 14th, 1956 in New Westminster, BC. He often told stories of his adventures growing up on Scott Road and exploring the property behind his parents' house. He particularly enjoyed telling us all about how he and his brother would start the swamp on fire, jump off the garage with an umbrella for a parachute and play tag with BB guns. We sometimes wondered how he survived to adulthood. But, survive he did and eventually he made his way to Swift Current where he met his future wife, Sandra Darjes on a blind date in 1993. After a long courtship, Damone and Sandra were married on August 17th, 2002 in his favourite place, their backyard. Recently, Damone retired as Senior Operations Manager at the Living Sky Casino. He was one of the very first employees hired and was very proud to design and help to construct the fountain in front of the casino in 2014. Every year he would match the donations collected from patrons who would toss a coin into the fountain for good luck on their way into the building. He served as treasurer of the Dr. Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation from April 2015 to October 2019 and was an active volunteer with various charitable events affiliated with and sponsored by the casino. Damone loved to work in his yard. He had a special talent for coming up with unique ways to create beauty and solve problems. He especially enjoyed decorating the front yard for all the special occasions throughout the year. Our house is known far and wide as the "Halloween House". Halloween was his very favourite holiday and he was always tickled to greet hundreds of trick-or-treaters at the front door on Halloween night. Damone loved his family fiercely and he was tremendously proud of his children; Harley, Tiffany and Marielle. He always said they were his greatest accomplishment. Though he left us suddenly and far too soon, we take comfort in knowing that he was doing what he loved when he passed; working on a project in his yard and we have many happy memories of the time we did get to spend with him. Donations to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family in Damone's memory. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
