Dale Goddard

GODDARD: Dale Alvin of Swift Current, SK passed away peacefully at home at the age of 86 on February 13, 2021. Dale is survived by his wife Fran Goddard; his children Brett (Susie) Goddard, Angela Schultz and Crystal (Rob) Duncan; his grandchildren Matthew Goddard (Brooklyn), Jessica Goddard (Thomas), Daniel Goddard, Abby Goddard, Chad Schultz (Georgia), Brandon (Laura) Schultz, Devon Schultz (Brooklyn), Dawson Schultz, Lee Duncan, Tanner Duncan (Jenna) and Lacey Duncan; and his great granddaughter Lexia Duncan. He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Erma Goddard; brother Allan Goddard; and brothers-in-law Fern Parenteau and Ken Ecker. Dale was born at the Cabri Hospital on March 2, 1934 and attended Waldensian Valley and Abbey Schools. He was united in marriage on July 5, 1965 to Fran Hansen at the First United Church in Swift Current. He was a member of the Waldensian Snow Plow Club and the South Saskatchewan Chariot Racing Association. Dale enjoyed chariot racing, baseball as a player, coach and proudest fan, he loved doing woodwork and he was an avid card player. Dale loved following his grandchildren around to their various activities such as football, archery, baseball, hockey, horse shows, school sports and soccer. Another activity that Dale loved from a young age and throughout his life was camping with family and friends. He loved sitting in his chair and looking out the window at all the many different kinds of birds and squirrels. He loved his animals and there were many. He was most proud of all of his grandchildren. This reflected in his license plate which read "Ask Me About My Grandchildren". He spent hours and hours of playing cards and board games with family and friends. He always greeted everyone with a big smile and a heartfelt hello. He is well known by many for his strong handshake and his consistent teasing. He was always tinkering in his shop or garage on the "next" project. When in need you always knew you could ask him for a tool, gadget, advice or just a big hug and he would always hand them out willingly.
