Tangen, Corissa Lee Ann of Stewart Valley passed away on January 12,2024 at the age of 42 years at Honor Health Shea Scottsdale, Arizona after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service was held on January 29, 2024, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Swift Current.
Corissa was born April 26, 1981 in Medicine Hat and graduated from McCoy High School. She moved to her grandpa Peter's in Swift Current in the fall of 2000 to be closer to the love of her life, Ryan. She then moved to the farm in the spring of 2001 to be with Ryan, and they were married on July 27, 2002. Corissa then got her red seal in hairdressing in 2004 and cut hair until she started at the daycare in Stewart Valley. She enjoyed looking after the children until the fall of 2018 when she was diagnosed with cancer which prevented her from doing the job she loved so much. Ryan and Corissa raised two remarkable young men, Cole and Gavin, whom she loved so much unconditionally. She was a dedicated sports mom of her two boys while they grew up playing hockey, lacrosse, football and any sport they decided to partake in. She loved everything about the outdoors from farming, camping, and walking around the farm with her animals following close behind even if the weather was unpleasant. She was often seen sitting in her chair overlooking the view of the farm as she loved every aspect of the farm life. As a family they went on several quadding trips into Alberta. She didn't enjoy the quadding part so much but loved the camping and being outdoors with her family and friends. She also loved every child she crossed paths with, always knowing how to talk to them so they would become instant friends. We know she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her with her loving and caring demeanor and gentle voice.
Corissa is survived by her loving husband Ryan; children Cole and Gavin; her parents Leon and Betty Bodin; sister Angela (TJ) Hogg; niece Payton Hogg; nephew Jake Hogg: her in-laws Darrel and Gayle Tangen; brother in-law Shawn (Erin) Tangen; niece Julie; nephew Jamie; and Jason Tangen (Rozy Laverdiere); and nieces Emma and Alyssa and several aunts, uncles and cousins that were close to her.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Peter and Jennie Smuk, Gaston and Cathy Bodin, and her uncle Anthony Bodin.
Donations in Corissa's memory to be made to the Stewart Valley Early Learning Centre (Daycare), or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
