Clarine Hermanson Obituary

Clarine Leona Hermanson, age 96 years of Swift Current formerly of Stewart Valley passed away on February 10, 2020 at The Meadows.  Clarine was born and raised on the family farm in the Hovdestad district near Stewart Valley.  She attended Hovdestad and Stewart Valley schools.  Clarine married Walter Hermanson on June 15, 1940 and she was his sweetheart for 63 years until he passed away.  They resided on the Hermanson farm until their retirement in 1998 when they moved to Swift Current.  Clarine worked very hard in the home and on the farm.  Besides being a homemaker she milked cows, drove the grain truck and brought many delicious meals to the field during harvest.  She also tended the orchard in the river hills just below the farm.  Clarine served on the school boards as a trustee and also on the local Pioneer Co-op board for many years; was a 4-H leader for 20 years and worked on many committees writing community and church history books.  As a young girl, Clarine played softball competing in many sports days and continued playing even after having two children.  She also played basketball on the Stewart Valley high school team.  She enjoyed many years of curling as an adult and was always a faithful fan of the many sports her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren participated in.  Clarine enjoyed quilting and spend many hours making beautiful quilts for almost all family members.  She continued her quilting hobby even after moving to Swift Current.  She loved reading and had books by her side till her last days.  Clarine and Walter enjoyed thirteen winters in Arizona with the camper as well as trips to Hawaii, Disneyland and Norway.  Clarine's strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ began as a young girl.  This was evident in the way she lived her life.  It was a legacy she wanted to pass on to her family.  She was always actively involved in her church.  Clarine was survived by five children and their families; Marilyn (Edmund) Olson, Derwood (Arlie) Hermanson, Carole Heron, Melodie (Len) Nakashimada, Michelle (Brad) Olfert; twelve grandchildren: D'lee (Garth) Johnson, Carla (Brad) Swanson, Shane (Rhonda) Olson, Rock (Nicole) Olson, (Russ and Jacqueline Siemens), Shawn (Elin) Hermanson, Angela (Carmen) Schindel, Alisen Nagy, Aric (Treva) Heron, Ashley (Tanya) Heron, Colin (Carling) Olfert, Denae (Stephen) Unger, Kelsey Olfert; two step-grandchildren: Stacey (Brad) Nakashimada, Jessica (Ash) Nakashimada; twenty-nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; sisters Marguerite Funk, Myrtle Brown, Ardis Mains and sister-in-law Helen Hermanson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Clarine was predeceased by spouse Walter Hermanson in 2003, parents Carl and Leida Carlson, son-in-law Daryl Heron, granddaughter Crystal Siemens, great-grandchildren David and Katrina Hermanson as well as numerous brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law.  The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., February 19, 2020, from Trailview Alliance Church with Russ Siemens and Shawn Hermanson conducting the service.  The pianist was D'lee Johnson; special music by her grandchildren.  The ushers were Colten and Marshall Siemens.  The obituary was read by Alisen Nagy.  Interment service was held at Nordland Church Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Aric Heron, Colin Olfert, Myron Johnson, Landon Olson, Tristan Hermanson, Noah Schindel.  Donations may be made to Eston College, Box 579, Eston, SK S0L 1A0; Gideon's International of Canada, Box 3619, Guelph, ON N1H 7A2.  Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
