Clara Rushoway

Clara Marie Rushoway passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at The Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  A private family graveside service was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. 

Clara was born on September 18, 1927, in Blumenhof, Saskatchewan to Diedrich and Marie (nee’ Dumois) Dyck.  Clara attended school at Blumenhof.  Later, Clara married Metro Rushoway on June 28, 1952, in the Catholic Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  Clara cleaned houses for numerous people including Dr. Noble Irwin.

Clara liked to crochet, garden, and she loved to tend to her numerous house plants.  She also enjoyed reading her newspaper, and kept up on all the going ons.  Clara always enjoyed her visits with her daughter Shirley and grandson Richard.  Clara also always looked forward to seeing her sister Hazel and nephew Bob Pengelly coming from Calgary to visit her. 
 
Clara is survived by her daughter Shirley Rushoway; grandson Richard Rushoway; sister Hazel Pengelly; sister – in – law Jean Crittenden; nephews: Robert Pengelly, Murray (Colleen) Rushoway, Gene (Sydney); nieces: Joanne (Doug) Cowie, and Evelyn (Hank).  She was predeceased by her husband Metro Rushoway; parents Diedrich and Marie Dyck; siblings: Irene (Lloyd) Ford, Lois (Glen) Krause, Clifford Dyck; brothers – in – law: Pete Rushoway, John (Mary) Rushoway, Nick (Margaret) Rushoway, Paul (Rita) Rushoway; and sister – in – law Annie (John) Kotylak.

The family would like to thank the staff of House 9 at The Meadows for the good care they gave Clara.
