Calvin Johnston

With sadness we announce the passing of Calvin Douglas Johnston, at the Herbert Integrated Facility on November 30, 2025.  Calvin was born in Swift Current on February 6, 1953, and attended Dickson School, Swift Current Comprehensive High School, and the University of Saskatchewan obtaining two advanced degrees.  Calvin worked for SaskPower for a while but preferred farming and the wide open space that it offered, and the countryside.

Calvin helped our parents with the cattle and farming, and often kept Mom company at home, and worked his own land.  Calvin enjoyed living in Swift Current, and was a fan of the Swift Current Bronco’s and the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.

Thanks to Dr. T. Lee, Dr. M. Kapusta, and Dr. E. Harrison for the excellent care of Calvin, and the ladies at Pharmasave and the E.I. Wood Building who looked after him very well.

Calvin was interested in anything to do with farming, and he listened to the radio farm reports ad prices daily.  Calvin is lovingly remembered by Gary and Carol Overli; 3 nieces: Christie and Richie Bouthillier and family; Cherise and Darren Antonio, and family; Carlee Annala and family; and many cousins.

Calvin was predeceased by his parents Wellesley and Bertie; brothers: Lawrence and Kenny.

At Calvin’s request, please consider donating to Pastor Richie and Christie Bouthillier at:  The Crossing Church, 1802 – 9th Ave SE, High River, AB, T1V 2A6.  Calvin will join his family in the family plot in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  No formal services will be held.
