Brad Downing Obituary

Downing: William Bradley Downing, age 42, of Swift Current, Sk, passed away September 19, 2020 at Gleichen, Ab. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the shop of Black Diamond Energy Solution. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in his life. The Interment Service will take place in Virden, Man. Brad is survived by his parents Bill and Phyllis Downing and Deb and Larry Baily, his wife Jenn Knight; his children Dawson and Hannah; his stepchildren Zackary (Savanna), Ashley (Everett), MacKenzie and Dakota; his sisters Tracy (Dale) Mead and Nicole Downing Clay Perrin); his step brothers Braden and Dylan Bailey; mother-in-law Letitia Young, father-in-law Brian Knight; six nephews, two nieces, one great nephew, one great niece and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant son Austin Downing; grandparents Alf and Ruth Downing and Jack and Evelyn Park; step grandparents Merv and Hazel Baily and Hillis and Millie Moore and numerous aunts and uncles. Brad was born on November 5, 1977 in Virden, Man were he took his schooling. Brad was active with Virden Minor Hockey and helped out on the family farm at Scarth until 1995, when he began his career in the oilfield. Brad worked for various Oilfield companies across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta finally settling in Swift Current where he worked for Black Diamond Energy Solution. In his spare time Brad enjoyed golfing, hockey, baseball, curling, fishing and numerous outdoor activities. Brad was a loving, caring, compassionate, hard working spouse, son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He may have appeared to be of portrayed himself to be rough and rugged, but he truly had a heart of gold and just a big teddy bear. Brad's love for his spouse, children and extended family was never undying. He was always willing to help out when he could. Brad always had an open mind and an open door to anyone that was struggling by lending a friendly listening ear of place to live. He was true loyal friend, never passing judgement on anyone. In January of 2018, Brad met Jenn Knight and both of their lives changed for the better. They made each other happier than either had been. The love they shared was true and unconditional and inspiring to both. Brad also had a love of animals. He would bring in strays and love them unconditionally. Haitis was his companion through good times and bad until Haitis was put to rest. A true meaning of a "Man's Best Friend". Brad extensive travels with work increased his work family. Brad's carefree, comical but serious attitude gained him a wealth of friends and family. Brad will be dearly missed, loved forever and never forgotten.
