Bobbie Baker Obituary

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Roberta Gale Baker (Olson).  She passed in Assiniboia, SK, June 24, 2026, which is the same date as she lost Steve, 18 years prior.  She was predeceased by her parents Jessie and Gus Olson.  Bobbie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Nicole Cristo (Rewerts) (Shayne Cristo), Rhona Baker (Scott Baker), Janine Sutton (Gary Sutton); grandchildren: Calvin Dyck, Andrew Dyck, Christopher Dyck, Miya Snortland, Ilea Sutton, and Reelan Baker; and of course, tons of extended family and friends.

She was born May 9, 1944, in Gull Lake, SK, where she was raised on the family farm.  As an adult, she completed her psychology degree and additional classes to teach (graduated from the University of Saskatchewan 1965) and to become a teacher.  After marrying Gerald Baker in1965, she taught at Oman School.  During this time, they also began their family, giving birth to 3 daughters.  They remained married for 25 years, living in Swift Current.  When her youngest daughter was a teenager, she taught English as a second language at the Swift Current College.

She temporarily moved to Regina, moved in with her daughters to complete her Masters in Education (minus 1 class).  Later, in Swift Current she also earned a Certificate in Mediation.

After meeting Steve Adamczyk around 1990, they moved to a beautiful acreage just outside of Swift Current.  Bobbie was so proud of the acreage.  She enjoyed spending time with her eldest daughter and children.  They lived there until Steve’s death in 2008.  Afterwards, she moved to Red Deer, AB, to be closer to her other 2 daughters and new grandchildren.  She also spent a great amount of time supervising and helping her eldest grandson.  She was there for over a decade and never missed a family event or game.  She chose to move back to Saskatchewan in 2019, and spent her remaining years with her family and friends, while battling dementia.

Her funeral service will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Swift Current, SK, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026.  There will be a short service followed by a lunch.
