Bev was born on June 22, 1949, in Vanguard, Saskatchewan to Anna and Alvin Carleton. When Anna and Alvin divorced, Anna remarried to Fred Sherman of Neville, and Fred adopted both Bev and Doug, who became Sherman’s.
Bev attended school in Neville, and in Swift Current. He left school and began working at a young age. He married Shirley Kunnick on May 20, 1972, and made their home in Success.
Bev worked at Standard Motors for a short time, then got a job with the Department of Highways. For the first few years he worked seasonal, so he was laid off for the winters, and at that time would work service rigs for the Cummings.
January 3, 1976, Michel was born, and on May 3, 1977, Kelly arrived. In 1982, the family moved to Swift Current. Bev retired in October 2007 from the Department of Highways. Bev started his cancer journey in August of 2024. He had surgery and all was good until the spring of 2025, when it recurred. Bev peacefully passed away at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on August 20, 2025.
Bev was predeceased by his parents, brother Evan, and his in – laws. Bev is survived by his wife Shirley; sons: Michel, Kelly (Marlene), their children: Harley and Brianne, Kelly’s daughter Jordan (Dillon), her children: Oakley, Jax, and Lydia. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bev is also survived by his brother Doug, and sister-in-law Penny, and their family; Shirley’s brother Robert (Janet,) and their family; and Shirley’s sister Vicky (Sid), and their family.
A private family interment service will take place at the Cadillac Cemetery in Cadillac, Saskatchewan. A casual come and go gathering will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
