Barry Rudd Obituary

August 19, 1941 – March 8, 2026 (84 years old)

Well Barry won’t like missing his weekly routine of scanning the obituaries to make sure he wasn’t in them. He would jokingly say, ‘Nope not in it, made it another week.’

Barry was born in Elrose, SK and went to school in Kyle. He later worked with his Dad on their mixed cattle and grain operation. He then worked at the Monet Community Pasture and later Myers Feedlot.

Barry married Lynda Dinsmore in 1968, where they bought land and started a ranch north of Webb, SK. They raised cattle and registered quarter horses.  Barry and Lynda were blessed with four daughters: Kerri-Lynne Patti, Kelli-Ann Marion, Kristi Joy Barri and Kandace Dayle.

His greatest passions were raising papered quarter horses, standing 2-5 studs and about 25-30 broodmares at a time. At one time they had 100 horses and 250 cow calf pairs. Together, Barry and Lynda enjoyed hauling their daughters to 4-H and barrel racings, moving cows and yearly brandings. They enjoyed attending horse and tack sales, watching all the local rodeos and cheering on their grandchildren at sports, jackpots and achievement days.

As many know, Dad was a big jokester and never missed an opportunity to tease someone, even right up to the day he passed. When either of us girls cut his hair or clipped his nails his comment was always, ‘Looks good from the highway!’ A fond memory was when he loved to say to the grandkids with a mischievous smile that the steering wheel was broken as it kept jerking to the side and finally turning into Dairy Queen for a box of dilly bars.

Our Dad/Grandpa was a man of few words but showed his affection in many other ways.  Always being there in time of need, with a favorite colored black horse, to a proud dad moment on a nice start on a colt, he would ask ‘How much for the circle horse?’, to a new saddle because the favorite old one got traded in a horse deal, to a crisp twenty to each of the grandkids when they come to visit and told them to buy a treat on the way home. He was a generous man who loved treating others, sometimes wrestling you for the chance to pay the bill.  In the end, we all learned to be a little sneaky if we wanted to return the favor.

Unfortunately, a fall at home in late August 2025, triggered a steady decline with his ongoing chronic heart failure and diabetic issues causing multi organ failure. Barry passed peacefully with his family by his side.

Barry was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Myrtle Rudd and grandson, Levi Mark Reimer. Barry is fondly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Lynda Rudd, his daughters: Kerri (Stacy) Bougerolle (Amanda Dawn, Cody Lane Babe (Darrian) (Riley, Brooke, Wren), Blake and Curtis): Kelli Reimer (Jaycee Dayle (Tanner) (great grandson, Isaiah Evander): Kristi Joy Barri Rudd (Kyan Rodney, Keesyn Dale, Kaylor Lyndayle, Koldyn Barry): Kandi (Travis) Horn (Kayden Lyndayle).

By request from Barry, there will not be a funeral service. We sincerely thank everyone who has reached out with their condolences and support during this time. It is greatly appreciated.  In honour of Barry, donations may be made to Stars Air Ambulance.
