It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Schafer from Swift Current, SK announce her passing on April 19, 2020 at the age of 71. Barb was born in Swift Current, SK to Jakob and Esther Feil on October 21, 1948. She grew up in Swift Current and received her various levels of education locally at Oman Elementary School and W.A. Beatty Collegiate. During this time, she worked alongside her dad at the local taxi shop and later at The Bank of Nova Scotia. In 1968, Barb married James Schafer, continuing to reside in Swift Current. Together they had four children, Stephanie, Beverly, Katherine and Kevin. Barb eventually stayed at home with her children and during this time for many years she took delight in caring for many nieces, nephews and family friends' children in her home. Barb enjoyed her time at home with her children, she was involved in the school parent council, attended various sporting activities cheering on her children at their baseball and softball games, basketball, soccer, football, hockey, dance, various music recitals, Brownies and was a Girl Guide leader. Over the years, as her own children grew and had their own families, she spent time watching and hearing about her grandchildren's various sports and musical ventures. Barb was involved in various organizations from the Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club, volunteering through Minor Hockey and Minor Soft Ball. Barb so loved her pets she had over the years that we know she is now back to enjoying her walks and playing with them again. Barb is predeceased by her father Jakob Feil, husband James Schafer, father and mother-in-law Adam and Dorothy Schafer. Barb is survived by her children Stephanie (Patrick) Ballard, their daughters Tarryn, Kaitlyn and Julia. Beverly (Darren) Kruger, their daughter Emily. Katherine (Jeff) Kalinocha, their sons Hunter and Xander. Kevin Schafer, his sons Kaleb, Riley and Chayse. Her mother Esther Feil, brothers David Feil, Jack (Joanne) Feil, sister Joanne Dickie and numerous nieces and nephews. God's Garden: "God looked around His garden and he found an empty place.
