Barbara Powell

Barbara Rose Powell (nee Getz) was born August 7, 1937, and passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023 at the Cypress Reginal Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  Barbara is survived by her three sons: Morgan (Fay), Jeffrey, Evan; grandchildren: Shayne (Kelsey), Chandler (Maryam), Jeffrey (Justine), Kelsey, Tiffany; great grandchildren: Dylan, Isabelle, Coen, Jace, Jemma.  Barbara is predeceased by her husband Howie Powell; parents Edward and Martha Getz; and parents in-law Jenkin and Isabelle Powell; her son Bart Powell; grandson Austen Powell; granddaughter Laci-Anne Powell.  Barbara grew up on her parents farm a few miles from Lancer, Saskatchewan. In 1956 she married Howie and were together for 61 years. They lived on the Powell farm, Lancer and Swift Current. They spent winters in Masa Arizona for 20 years.  Barbara was a member of the Catholic Women’s league (CWL) for over 50 years. She served as a director on the first board for the Sandhills Homecare. Barbara looked forward to, and assisted in, the longstanding preparation and delivery of the Chokecherry Festival.  She enjoyed watching curling, baseball and some hockey.  Barbara always enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, for further information please call 1-306-773-8831 or 1-800-267-6606, or visit our website at www.warrensfuneralhome.com and express your sympathy to family members on the tribute wall.
