Alvin Fred Gader was born on August 31, 1951 in Swift Current SK, and passed away on October 19, 2022 in Medicine Hat AB. He was predeceased by his parents Em and Lillie Gader, two brothers, Alec and Raymond, and two sisters, Faye (Finlay), and Judy. He is survived by one sister, Shirley Hesla (Gordon), five sisters-in-law, Lila Gader, Louise Gader, Sharon Sandau, Joanne Bowyer (Darcy), Ruth Koch (Merlin), one brother-in-law, Rick Vossler (Lisa), and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin grew up on the farm at McMahon SK where he acquired a love of the farming life. When his family moved into Swift Current he continued to help on the farm. After high school he tried a few different jobs until he started at Canada Safeway, and retired from there after 36 years. His love of sports was well known as he played baseball in various communities, enjoyed all the Bronco games, and was a die-hard ‘Rider’ fan. He had a passion for traveling around the country, and made sure he got to some major league baseball games. Whether it was taking a long trip with friends or family, they were some of his best memories. In 2011 he married Betty Good (Vossler) and moved to Medicine Hat where he met many new people, and still saw many from Swift Current. His love of cats was very evident when, in 2013, he rescued a kitten from the SPCA. Health issues were a constant battle. Heart surgery and the caring people at the Medicine Hat dialysis unit gave him extra years. Donations in his memory can be made to the SPCA.
