Allan F. Smith, lifetime resident and supporter of the Swift Current community, passed away on September 25, 2025, at the age of 93.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Eastside Church of God, at 11:00 a.m.
Allan was predeceased by his father, Lloyd, and his mother Thelma, and sister-in-law Bev Smith (Bixenman).
He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 72 years, daughters, Diane (Tom) Duke; Jean (Mark) Machnee; Sheila (Andy) Boruch; and son, Stuart (Ruth) Smith. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also, two brothers, Murray (Bev Whitell) Smith and Barrie (Marge Wagner) Smith; 5 nephews and 1 niece.
Allan Fitzgerald Smith was born on May 6, 1932 and raised on the family farm southwest of Swift Current, Sk. He attended Central School, Beatty Collegiate and the U of S, Vocational Agriculture program. He married Margaret Patricia (Pat) Campbell on October 24, 1953 and together, they built their home and raised their family on the family farm.
Allan began working on the farm with his father and brother Murray, later expanding the operation to include his son and his nephew. He worked in partnership with his brothers, Murray and Barrie, and purchased the John Deere dealership, which Allan managed from 1982 until he retired in 2000.
Allan had a love of woodworking and building furniture. Many family members have cherished pieces of his handiwork. He also loved a good card game of Cribbage or Bridge. He enjoyed going fishing to Robertson Lake with family and friends. He was an avid and active member of the AG & Ex Fair Board, the Swift Current Kiwanis Club, the Canada West Implement Dealers Association, the Swift Current Rural Water Pipeline, the Southwest Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and numerous other community and provincial boards. He received the Distinguished Graduate in Agriculture Award from the University of Saskatchewan acknowledging his contributions in agriculture and community life in the Swift Current area.
Allan was a strong family man and secure in his faith. He was a “Jack of ALL Trades” and a master of many. He loved to socialize and cherished his many friends.
