Vivian Sedgwick Obituary

The family of Vivian Lorraine Sedgwick are deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing on Sept. 11 th, 2019 at Cypress House in Swift Current, at the age of 91. Vivian is survived by her daughter Laurell Slusar, Randy Slusar, grandchildren Carly and Kyle Slusar, sisters-in-law Helen Quick and Norma Flaig, brother-in-law Grant (Phyllis) Sedgwick, nieces and nephews Lynn Hall, Ross Vance, Robert A. Vance, Robert Quick, Diane Quick and David Quick. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Margaret Vance, her first husband Roy Braddish, and her 2nd husband Gordon Sedgwick, her son Lane Vance Braddish, brother Hugh (Jean) Vance), sister-in-law Ethel Robinson, brothers-in-law Morris Quick, Fred Robinson and Fred Flaig, nephew Craig Vance and nephew Jim (Debbie) Quick. Vivian was born Nov. 3rd, 1927 in Prince Albert, Sk. She attended Teacher's College and taught in one room schoolhouses in various communities in Southwest Saskatchewan before moving to Swift Current where she taught for many years at Dixon School. She was a lively active, fun loving person who loved dancing. She enjoyed teaching her grade 4 students how to square dance. Vivian was very active in the First United Church. After she met and married her 2nd husband Gordon Sedgwick, she retired, having taught for 26 years. She and Gordon enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. They had many friends and loved playing cards and pool. Vivian was very skilled at Billiards, winning many awards at tournaments. She took part in the Senior Olympics in both Arizona and Canada, bringing home several gold medals in Ladies Billiards. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the First United Church with Peggy Worrell officiating. The Interment Service will place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park.
