Honorary pallbearers were all friends and family that knew her. The Interment Service took place a t Mount Pleasant Burial Park. She is survived by: Son-Darrel Tangen (Gayle); Grandsons: Shawn Tangen (Erin) Julie and Jamie McKay/Tangen, Ryan Tangen (Corissa) Cole and Gavin Tangen, Jason Tangen, Emma and Alyssa Hilmoe and special friend Rozy Laverdiere. Daughter-Janine Clark (Tim Drake); Granddaughters: Ashley Clark, Nikki Clark-Murray (Devon) Alexander and Violet Murray, Chelsea Pearse (Josh) Bella Pearse. She is also survived by her brother, Joey Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Tangen in 1989, her parents Julius and Alma Brown, sister Rubel Grinder and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was born April 17th, 1927 at her family farm in the Morse/Neidpath area. She attended school in the Morse district and graduated Grade 12 at Beatty Collegiate in Swift Current. She also attended business/secretarial school with her sister-in-law Lisette Brown in Moose Jaw. She married Melvin Tangen on June 3, 1955 at St Olaf's Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  She told us that they were the first to be married there. She was employed at Anderson law firm until 1955 and then moved to the family farm where she raised her family on the Tangen homestead. There was no running water until the 70's so it was a happy day when they moved into the newer house with an indoor bathroom. She belonged to the Bethel Prairie Lutheran Ladies Axillary and canvassed for the Combined Appeal. She loved to cook, bake and canned farm grown produce. Separating the milk and churning the butter was enjoyed by us kids as well. During the summer months she would enjoy playing horseshoes with family and friends and also enjoyed playing cards year-round and going to Bingo. She developed macular degeneration and was declared legally blind in 2006. She lived on her own until late 2015 with the help of home care coming several times a day. She was then admitted to the Swift Current Care Centre and remained there until Aug 7, 2016 when she moved to House 21 at the Meadows. We often thought how nice it would be if she could only see how incredible that place is. She often talked about how well she was cared for and really enjoyed the care aides and nurses who looked after her. She really enjoyed the food there and was always wanting to know what time it was, so she wouldn't miss a meal. Her brother Joey moved in to the house next door last January and despite there being an hour left before supper she didn't want to see him right then for fear she might not get her meal. The family would like to thank Dr. Bakare and the staff in House 21 at the Meadows for the exceptional care and compassion during her stay. You made it her home and she really didn't want to leave even for Christmas, so we had the last 2 Christmas celebrations at the Meadows. We will never forget our new-found family with the staff and patients. Donations in her memory can be made to: CNIB and Houses 21 and 22 at the Meadows where she was cared for until her passing.
