Velva Wagner Obituary

Velva Yvonne Wagner, June 21, 1936 - February 11, 2019. Velva Wagner passed away peacefully at The Meadows in Swift Current on February 11, 2019 after a courageous battle with chronic heart failure. A Prayer Service was held Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.  from Little Flower Parish Church with Father Joseph Thazhathemuriyil officiating. The Mass Service was held Friday, February 15, 2019, at 11:00 am from Little Flower Parish Church with Father Joseph Thazhathemuriyil officiating. The organist was Anne Dietrich, pianist was Karri Wagman, soloist was Dustin Heatcoat. Readers were Waylon Wagner and Tyler Jorgenson. Intentions were given by Quinton Jorgenson. The Eulogist was Lindsay Robertson. Gifts for Communion were presented by Susan Theaker and Carolyn Wagner. The Cross Bearers were Rene and Calvin Wagner. Pallbearers were Allison Wagner Waylon Wagner, Tyler Jorgenson, Lindsay Robertson, Kristy O'Conner, Calin Wagner, Leticia Wagner and Tegan Wagner. Honorary Pallbearers were Rodger Boylan, Eugene Schmaltz, Josh Staple, Fred Bell, Bert Koehler, Vic Bergne and Gerald Gropp. The Interment Service will be hald at a later date at the Leader Community Cemetery. Velva leaves to cherish her memory husband of 61 years, Pius; daughter Darlene (Mike); sons Rene (Brenda) and Calvin (Gwen); 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews; brother Denis (Renee); and sister RoseMarie (Steve). She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Marie Anderson. Velva was born on June 21, 1936 in Nokomis. She married Pius Wagner on August 19, 1957 in Nokomis. They farmed on the Wagner homestead until the fall of 1982 when they moved to Sceptre. Vel enjoyed gardening and reaped the rewards of her harvest by canning and making jam. She loved to eat and pick, and eat and pick some more. She enjoyed going for coffee to visit with the women. Most of all, she loved her family. Her grandkids stole a piece of her heart they will carry with them forever.
