Shirley McConnachie Obituary

Shirley Fern McConnachie passed away at the age of 84 on November 25, 2018 in the Meadows Nursing Home. Her funeral was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday November 30, 2018 at the First United Church in Swift Current with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The interment service was held at Memorial Gardens. The pianist was Patti McCleary. The Eulogist was nephew, Gordon Gin; Ushers were her grandsons Leo Pritchard, Matthew Dumont; Ryan Wilson and Tyler Wilson. The Honorary Pallbearers are all that knew and loved Shirley. Shirley was born in Herbert, Sk. on May 8, 1934 to John (Jack) and Clara Masson. She attended Ernfold School. Shirley married Cecil Wilferd Wilson on December 20, 1950. They had four children Trudy, Jim, Cathy and Cecil (Babe). They lived on the Wilson homestead farm 8 1/2 miles Southeast of Morse until moving into town in 1964. Shirley was a homemaker first and grew a large garden. She was a volunteer for many clubs including taking people to appointments or shopping and teaching English to foreigners, Home Care receptionist, Meals on Wheels, Sign language, Church events, Wellness clinic, Kiwanis and Lioness clubs. She met Norman McConnachie and they were married on Feb 21, 2002 where she gained two lovely step daughters, Heather and Gail as well as a large extended family. Norm and Shirley enjoyed travelling. They moved into their condo in 2007 where Shirley lived until moving into the Meadows in 2017. Shirley is survived by her children Trudy (Wilf) Dumont from Calgary, AB., Catherine (Greg) Illerbrun from Swift Current, Sk., Cecil (Brenda) Wilson of Swift Current, Sk. and step daughter Gail (Don) Priest of Swift Current, Sk.; her grandchildren Matthew Dumont, Dara Dumont, Brandy (Leo) Pritchard, Calli Illerbrun (Keagan Lockwood), Ryan (Alanna) Wilson and Tyler Wilson and step granddaughter Barbara Kelly (Loic Mas) as well as seven great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brother Wayne (Mabel) Masson and family from Regina, Sk and brother-in-law Suelodge (Slug) Gin and family of Herbert, Sk; brothers and sisters-in-law; Agnes (Walter) Leisle, Harry Wilson, Mary Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley is predeceased by her parents; John and Clara Masson; her husband Cecil Wilferd Wilson in 1984; her second husband Norman McConnachie in 2015; her son James A. Wilson, granddaughter Shawna R. Kosier; step-daughter Heather McConnachie and step-granddaughter Ainsley Kelly; her brothers Boyd Masson, Jack Masson and Glenn Masson; sisters Mae Masson and Elaine Gin; sisters-in-law Ethel Masson, Naomi Masson, Faye Masson, Cheryl Masson, Gloria Masson and brother and sisters-in-law; Florence Blondin, Bill (Betty) Wilson, Earl (Lena) Wilson, Margaret (Leo) Deobald, Muriel (Fred) Leisle, Ellen (Ted) Roh and Connie Wilson; Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the AlS Association, 1275 K Street NW - Suite 250- Washington, DC 20005EIN: 13-3271855@2018, Lou Gehrig@) www.louGehrig.com or to the charity of choice.
