ALTON: Rose Matilda age 94 of Swift Current, SK passed away on May 31, 2019 at the Meadows. At Rose's request there will be no formal funeral service. Rose is survived by her children Robert Alton of Swift Current, Roy Alton of Moose Jaw, SK, Ruth (Ron) Stewart of Morse, SK and Sharon (Dwight) Sitter of Swift Current; grandchildren Shaun Alton of Swift Current, Linda (Bob) Denny of Lloydminster, AB, and Elizabeth (Kurtis) Sitter of Humboldt, SK; great grandchildren Ty and Tess Denny of Lloydminster and Mya Shulhan of Humboldt. She is predeceased by her husband John Alton of Swift Current; brother Robert Aiken of Canwood, SK; and sisters Margaret Wyatt of Canwood and Anne Anderson of Vancouver, B.C.. Brother-in law Clarence Alton and sister-in-law Grace Alton. Rose was born in Lamont, AB. Rose worked at Dixie Lunch as a waitress and while working there she met John. Rose was a homemaker of most of her life. Rose and John enjoyed going to the mall on Saturday afternoons and then for supper at the Big Eye every Saturday. They also loved dancing and would go up north to Canwood for celebrations and barn dances. Rose and John attended ever fowl supper in the community and surrounding area's. Rose enjoyed having tea with the neighbors Audrey Monk and Helen Dyck with whom she was very close. Rose and John enjoyed farming together for years. John did custom combining for neighbors and friends. Rose enjoyed having big family dinners at her home, and she was very involved in her grandchildren's lives. Rose and John were always there when needed. They attended every school recital and outings that came up. They were very proud grandparent's. Rose was a good baker. She enjoyed making slices and cakes for every occasion. Rose made the best cabbage rolls which she passed down to her children. You never left her house hungry.
