Rex Bovee Obituary

Theodore Rex Bovee, at 98 years of age, passed away at the Willow Creek Manor in Swift Current on May 31, 2019. Rex was born January 28, 1921 on the family homestead and married Alice Louise Minor on October 7, 1948. He is survived by the love of his life, Alice, of 70 plus years; children: Dalice (Max) Abraham, Daniel Rex (Donalee) Bovee, and Lynda (Dale) Johnson; grandchildren: David Abraham, Braden Rex Abraham (Jill), Alicia Abraham Regier (Matthew), Jeff Bovee (Sabrina), Jenna Bovee Langford (Sean), Jodi Bovee, Kersten Johnson-Sevilla (Gino), Mark Johnson, Tye Theodore Johnson (Nicole); great grandchildren: Luke and Zara Abraham, Leo and Anika Abraham, Max, Sam and Jonah Regier, Frankie and Rex Langford, Wyatt Bovee, Karson Bleau. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents: Theodore and Winnifred; father and mother in law: John and Katherine Minor; brothers: Lloyd Bovee (Ada), Hugh Bovee (Edna); sisters in law: Mary (Andy), Anne (Bick), Florence (Dave), Frankie (Cave), Grace (Jack), Helen (Don), Edith (Roy) and brother in law: John (Gertrude). Dad attended school at Badger Mound, Shackleton and Cabri. He went to the University of Saskatchewan for one year and then joined the Canadian Air Force during the war and has always been a proud Legion member. Then, returning to the family farm in 1948 he married Alice Minor and they bought the Cletion Gossard farm in Waldensian Valley.  Dalice, Daniel Rex and Lynda were born. Dad managed the Minor ranch for two years until the tragic passing of mom`s brother, John Minor. The family moved back to the Bovee homestead. Dad was an artificial insemination Technician, meeting and visiting many people in the region. Next to his love of his family, Dad had a passion for anything to do with horses and ranching. He loved the brandings, rodeos, team roping and the "sandhills". Mom and Dad enjoyed square and round dancing for many years. Rex also enjoyed curling, bowling, golfing, horse shoes, water fights and a good story. He was always a practical joker. Many long, fun nights of card games with family and friends, are fondly remembered. In 2001, Mom and Dad retired to the Pioneer Manor in Swift Current. They enjoyed 18 years there and took part in all the activities. They took great pride and joy in their flower bed. In 2018 they moved to the Willow Creek Manor. Best of all we were provided with a loving home. Dad adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved our mother for 70 plus years. Such a wonderful example! He will be remembered by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be on JULY 12, 2019 at the First United Church auditorium at 2:00 PM. We would like to thank the staff at Willow Creek Manor for their wonderful care and compassion. In memory of REX, donations to the Willow Creek Manor would be appreciated.  (700 Aberdeen St. E.
