Randy Payne Obituary

Randy Dean Payne was born on December 14, 1959, in Swift Current, SK, to Jack and Shirley Payne. In a feat some thought was impossible, death finally caught up with Randy at the Cypress Regional Hospital in the early hours of August 24, 2019, after a short but hard-fought and stubborn battle with pancreatic cancer, and with family by his side. Randy was known for his strength. He was a National and World Champion Armwrestler, winning Gold on right arm (100+ kg) and Bronze on the left (110 kg) at the World Championship in 1985. He literally punched holes into the ground for a living for much of his life, as owner and operator of Great West Drilling, a water well drilling and servicing company. Randy enjoyed dirt bikes, motorcycles, race cars and was a renowned golfer his entire life. He was also known for his strength of will and conviction, accompanied by his well-used catch phrase of "Don't tell me what to do". Those who knew him would describe him as fearless, tough, and maybe a few other words not appropriate for print.
Randy leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth, sons Tyler (Valerie) and Chance (Teagan), grandchildren Veronica, Caitlyn, Harrison, and a fourth on the way. He is also survived by parents Jack and Shirley, sister Laurie (Kim) Fowke, niece Lindsay (Kyle) and nephew Jack,
and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, including Uncle Lloyd Carefoot, with whom he was as close as a brother. He is predeceased by Grandparents Elmer and Lenora Carefoot, and Geoffrey and Hilda Payne, Uncle Bob Payne, and Aunt Barbara Anne Deane Carefoot.
As Randy might have said...it was a hell of a ride. Donations in Randy's memory may be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A. P.O.
