Patrick McConnell

McConnell, Patrick George age 82, of Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan, passed away November 10, 2019 at 9:30 am. He is survived by his children: daughter Dawn (Dan) Leshures, sons: Terry McConnell, Tom McConnell and Mike McConnell, grandchildren Kevin (Cortney) Leshures, Stephanie (Travis) Jesson, Jennifer McConnell, Matthew McConnell (Kirby Zimmer), Jason (Jessie) Louma, Kaitie (Nico) Letwiniuk, Great grandchildren: Tate and Ryder Leshures, Christine and Tucker Jesson, Navy and Jonna Louma, Lynden Smith, Jocelyn and Owen Letwiniuk. Sisters Faye McConnell and Peggy McConnell; Sisters-in-law Lillian Smith, Bev (Cal) Ival, Brothers-in-law Norris Rya, Irwin (Virginia) Wells, Great Aunt Bernice Barber and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Edith McConnell, parents-in-law Lewis and Florence Wells, his wife Louise McConnell, brother-in-law Boyd Smith, sister-in-law Gwen Rya. Pat was born June 8, 1937 at the Swift Current hospital. He attended school, grades 1-12 at Stewart Valley. He married Louise Wells in Swift Current Nov 7, 1958. He worked for the Department of Highway, drove bus for numerous years, farmed and fed hogs, farrow to finish, while raising a family. Pat enjoyed sports and was very athletic, playing at various levels in hockey and ball. He coached his kids hockey and ball teams. Pat and Louise were very active in their community, enjoying card games with friends. They were also well known for how well they danced together. The family had a cabin at Clearwater Lake and there was lots of fun times spent there. He also enjoyed taking his own family onto Lake Defienbaker on their boat and would drive for hours pulling skiers. Any donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
