VANGEN: Mary Josephine age 95 of Vanguard, SK passed away on March 25, 2019. The memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The eulogy was read by Vera Vangen, the ushers were Kim Clossen and Stacey Friesen, and the urn bearer was Stevie Dahl. The interment service took place from Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Mary is survived by her children Diana Vangen of Vanguard, SK, Linda (Garry) Tangen of Swift Current, Vera Vangen of Medicine Hat, AB, Ken (Ruth) Vangen of Swift Current, Stephen (Audrey) Vangen of Saltcoats, SK, and Shelley (Chris) Kaip of Vanguard; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. she is predeceased by her husband Emil; daughter Marilyn; sons-in-law Don and Carl; as well as all of her siblings and her parents. Mary was born on October 22, 1923 in Success, SK. Mary was united in marrage to Emil Vangen on October 24, 1948 in Success. She worked in various positions including Best Western Motel, Kruse Farm, the horse plant, and Goodwin's House. She was a member of the Eagles Club and enjoyed gardening (flower beds), spending time with family and friends, and going to church. She loved her dog Kelly and was very outspoken but had a great sense of humour. She always had big family gatherings and loved to cook for whoever was around. She always asked if you were hungry. All the kids in the neighborhood called her mom and were always welcome in her home.
