Lynn Wieterman Obituary

Wieterman Lynn Arthur, (Big Red) age 67 of Kincaid, SK., passed away May 16, 2019, at Swift Current, SK. Born in Kincaid, SK. June 28, 1951 where he lived most of his life. Lynn is survived by his parents George and Marguerite, Brothers Doug (Karen) and Bob (Gale), Sisters Leslie, Donna (Larry), Beth, and Denise (Wade), and many Nieces and Nephews, and Cousins (who always keep in close touch and are always there in a heartbeat). Lynn attended public school in Pennant SK, where he made many life-long friends, David Dowdeswell, Shawn Sorenson, their families, and many others from the surrounding areas. Lynn attended Swift Current Comprehensive High School where he played football and had great time trying out for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The family joke was that Lynn ran away to join the circus (Myers Amusement) at the age of 17, traveling throughout parts of Canada, the Southern States and wintering in St. Louis. Lynn started working at Asphalt Services (ASL Paving) in 1973 where he ran a backhoe and paver and was Paving Foreman for the Rural Division from 1977-1987. They say "he was loud and talking all the time." Lynn, for a time, lived in a little house on the corner in Noonan, North Dakota, where he meet close friends Carla and Berry Miller. He had great fun calling himself a Hobby Farmer when he had his beloved five-head herd of Maine-Anjou cattle; this lead him to volunteering as a Barn Boss at Regina's Fall Agribition. Lynn worked briefly as a hire hand for Norman and Shirley Christianson on their ranch in Bracken. Lynn owned the Windsor Hotel in Kincaid for many years and became very involved in his community. He was an active member of the local Lions Club, and loved being in charge of the annual $10,000.00 cow raffle (which his family never won!), and many more fund raising events. In recent years, the Kincaid Loins Club was a great help and support to him. For many years, Lynn took great pleasure in having the hockey teams from N. Dakota in the hotel on weekends while they practice at the local arena. He enjoyed hosting the pheasant hunters from the States, and the hunters from Italy, beer runs to the farmers in the fields, the Hard Luck Ball Tournaments, and many curling bonspiels. Lynn also enjoyed watching the birds at his feeders outside his windows, and great games of Pinochle. The Kincaid "Coffee Gang" were an integral part of his life. This group started going to the Windsor Hotel and when it closed, just kept on going to Lynn's home, twice a day for many happy years. Lynn's family wants to thank the many, many kind people in the Kincaid region and beyond, who helped Lynn so much in recent years. In particular, the First Responders, his health and home care providers, the Kincaid Lions Club, and especially his close friends Pat Williamson and Rod Graham, Bernie Miller, Cindy Gross, John Robertson, Heather Archer, Laurie and Dale Schwab, Trudy Friel and many many more. He loved you guys! Dad will miss the annual Amaryllis contests that he started with Lynn, Mom will miss the curling critique, and of course their Sunday mornings phone calls often ending in Lynn saying "All rightly then, Talk at ya's later."  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the local Lions Club or the Kincaid First Responders, so that they each may continue supporting the local community. Finally, as is now posted on his Facebook page "Big Red signing off. It's been one hell of a ride." Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
