Loreta McCarty

The family of Loreta McCarty of Simmie, SK wish to announce her passing on June 1, 2019 at the age of 87 years at the Shaunavon Long Term Care Center. At her request there will be a private family graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Elmer McCarty. Loreta was born to Charles and Clara Blinco on March 11, 1932 in Shaunavon, SK. She was raised N.W. of Shaunavon in the Rock Creek district. She attended Rock Creek School. She worked on the family farm with her parents and brother Floyd. She enjoyed going to dances at the community halls, that is where she met Elmer. Elmer and Loreta were married on April 20, 1960. They moved to the Thring Farm and started their lives together. They raised their four children on the farm. In the spring you'd find mom out around the cattle. She always took a huge part in the cattle. In the fall it was canning and preserving, and she did lots of that. She enjoyed the outdoors, farm life, her chickens and turkeys, her garden and most of all her family. She was especially happy when the grandchildren started coming, then the great grandchildren. In May 2018 mom moved into Shaunavon Long Term Care Centre. She took each day as it came. She enjoyed the staff and they became part of her family. Loreta is survived by her children Twyla (Neil) Spetz and their son Jeffrey, Michelle (James) Harvey and their children Alex and Thomas, Dwight McCarty, Keith (Kathy) McCarty and their children Kaily, Danny and Jacey, and Delmer McCarty; sisters Leila Stevenson and Marg Carpenter; sister-in-law Wilma Krause; brother-in-law Albert McCarty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Elmer McCarty; parents Charles and Clara Blinco; parents-in-law Angus and Olive McCarty; brother Floyd Blinco; brothers-in-law James Stevenson and Don Carpenter; in-laws Cliff and Winnie McCarty, Murray and Mattie McCarty, Vern and Lional Kruse, Hazel and Lawrence Larson, Elsie and Wes Bolton, Russel Stevenson and Gordon Krause; nephews Eldon Stevenson and Neil Bolton; and nephew-in-law Les Illerbrun. We would like to say a special thank you to the care staff at Shaunavon Long Term Care Centre for the great care given to mom. You always made it feel like home.
