Lesley Dawn Oakman passed away on January 8, 2020 after battling with cancer. She was born on October 3, 1977 and grew up on the family farm west of Stewart Valley. 4-H and music lessons set her on the course of her life. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agriculture, she returned to Swift Current to work as a wheat quality technician with Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada at the research station. She always loved singing with her dad, and once back in Swift Current she joined the Swift Current Oratorio Choir and later Prairie Spirit Chamber Singers. She spent may years serving on the board of the Oratorio Choir. She also spent many years involved in Grace United Church, including leading the choir, serving as the organist, leading the singing for their gospel nights, as well as participating in the life and work of the church. Curling in the Wednesday night ladies league, knitting and crocheting, reading, and a little too much tv rounded out her activities. Lesley was predeceased by her mother, Merrilyn (Lyn) Oakman, and her grandparents Earnest and Agnes Oakman and John and Evelyn Hunter. She is survived by her father Larry Oakman, her brother Darren Oakman, sister-in-law Desiree, and niece Catharine. Lesley was incredibly grateful for the tremendous support from all of her friends and coworkers following her diagnosis, including many trips to Saskatoon for treatment, yard care, and so much more. She also wanted to thank the nurses and staff at Cypress Regional Hospital. Donations to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Inc. or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
